THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF HEALTH PROGRAMMES (MSc MEHP)
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is essential in the systematic documentation of the success and challenges of health interventions. This programme is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, skills, and competences in M&E with practical training tailored to help students understand and integrate M&E concepts, approaches, methods and plans into their programmes and projects.
The programme philosophy is designed from learner’s perspective. It is based on the principles of problem solving, self-discovery, innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. It incorporates a combination of theory, the sharing of experiences by successful experts, experiential learning, varied practical applications, and assignments, all conducted in a tutorial environment.
During the learning process, a balance is maintained between personal development, self-reflection and the national and global context of Health Project Monitoring and Evaluation. The program is designed to integrate public health theories and monitoring and evaluation competencies with fieldwork applications that provide students with the intellectual and analytical skills needed in the real world today.
The general objective of the MSc MEHP program learning objective is to develop a corps of competent professionals in Health Monitoring and Evaluation who are capable of designing, implementing and utilizing different frameworks to enhance planning, monitoring and evaluation of public health interventions; conduct needs assessment, formative assessment and operational research to assist the design and implementation of health care interventions; understand the social, economic, cultural and institutional contexts of health programs, through clearly articulated learning outcomes.
